Our companies work for Ariane, Airbus or Embraer. We print USA Today, El Mundo, or Corriere della Serra every day for northern European countries.

Major retail distribution chains such as Champion, Match, Cora and Lidl have chosen our region. Car Styling may have designed some parts for your car or AGC Automotive may have produced its windscreen.

Your top-of-the-range perfume bottle may just have come from the Nouvelles Verreries de Momignies. And for your gastronomic delight, we produce Chimay Trappist beers, Eau de Villée brandy and many other specialities.

All these achievements are the work of a selection of about 100 companies, large and small, new or old, traditional or innovating, local or foreign. We have not been able to mention all of them but we invite you to browse through this site and discover them as well as other surprising, innovating or simply excellent products and services.

These achievements have not come about in a haphazard way. They are part of a clear vision for the economic renewal of a region located in the heart of Europe, and building on its irrefutable strengths. They are permanently supported by the activities of Igretec, the regional development agency, as well as a group of economic players. Lastly, they are first and foremost the result of the work and know-how of men and women in Charleroi and the South Hainaut region.


New and varied technologies…

Some internationally reputed centres of excellence in the fields of biotechnology, information technology and aeronautics are established in the region, a fact that encourages the emergence of many innovating entreprises. Business links in the area of research and development are being created within these technological clusters.

… and the renewal of traditional sectors

For decades, Charleroi has excelled in printing, steel-making and metal manufacture, glassmaking and electronics for professional use. After major restructuring, these sectors have once again become promising growth areas and are also supported by different centres of excellence.
